Shea Aroma is a skincare range made from Shea Butter specially formulated for the Scottish climate and produced in Scotland.
Shea Aroma trade as an independent distributor and work in collaboration with African Farmers Co-operative: a fair trade organisation which trades as an umbrella company on behalf of the rural farmers in Africa.
Annette is of Caribbean descent and has lived in Edinburgh for over 26 years. She is an experienced practicing aromatherapist developing her own range of Shea Butter products. Having trained and worked with some of the leading names in complementary therapy. She also has a BSc in Aromatherapy from Napier University. She is insured and registered Complementary therapist. Annette recently started playing the Djembe and found that as a therapist she had to protect and condition her hands. Whilst studying in the Gambia she was introduced to Shea Butter and started researching into its properties and found that it had great benefits for use in Scotland.
What is Shea Butter?
Shea Butter come from the nut of the Karite Tree (women’s gold) which only grows in the savannaha regions of Africa and has an earthy, nutty fragrance. Shea Butter emolument properties have been proven through the centuries of use and clinical trials. It is traditionally used for nourishing the skin and keeps it supple and young. It has a natural sun screen properties and anti-inflammatory agents. Pure Shea Butter contains an abundance of healing ingredients, including vitamins, minerals and proteins Unlike petroleum-bases moisturisers, Shea Butter actually helps to restore the skin’s natural elasticity. Shea Butter is excellent for massage and can be used therapeutically to treat muscles, sprains and help with Arthritis. It has also been used for treating skin conditions and ailments such as extreme dryness, eczema, dermatitis, skin allergies, fungal infections, blemishes and stretch marks, scars and more.
